Novas' Siloti Product Receives Industry Recognition for Innovation in Chip Verification
New visibility enhancement product honored
by IEC, EDN Magazine and Test & Measurement World
San Jose, Calif., January 31, 2007 - Novas Software, Inc., the leader in debug systems for complex chip designs, today announced that its Siloti™ Visibility Enhancement (VE) software product has been recognized for technical innovation by three prominent semiconductor industry organizations. For the second time in three years, a Novas product has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious DesignVision Award program by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), held in conjunction with the annual DesignCon event. In addition, EDN Magazine and Test & Measurement World Magazine have recognized the Siloti product on their lists for "EDN Hot 100 Products of 2006" and "2007 Best in Test" Honorable Mention, respectively.
Introduced in March 2006, the Novas Siloti VE product transforms verification methodologies by eliminating the overhead associated with dumping data for all the signals in a design. The Siloti product improves the observability of internal signal activity during full-chip regression simulation, emulation and first-silicon prototyping.
"The lack of visibility into design behavior has been a severe bottleneck in verification methodologies," said Scott Sandler, president and CEO of Novas. "These awards are recognition not only of the technical innovation behind our Siloti product and its approach to improving visibility in complex designs, but also a testament to the importance of the visibility issue to designers."
Award-winning Technology
The Siloti VE product has been selected as a finalist in the ASIC and IC Design Tools category of the annual DesignVision Award program, which recognizes top innovations in electronic design. The 2007 finalists were chosen from among a record number of competing products by a panel of judges selected from the DesignCon Technical Program Committee, comprised of 96 of the industry's top thought leaders.
The Siloti product also earned placement on EDN Magazine's Hot 100 list of 2006, which according to the editors, is "built by and for electronics engineers, this list distills the most innovative and significant products of the year." Siloti VE software is among 14 products representing the electronic design automation (EDA) category.
Additionally, as testament to its appeal to test engineers as well as designers, the Siloti software earned an Honorable Mention listing on the "Best in Test - 2007" list published annually by Test & Measurement World Magazine. Each year, editors from Test & Measurement World present the Best in Test awards to products they think are particularly innovative or useful. This year Novas is the only traditional EDA vendor recognized for its product.
As previously announced, the Novas Siloti VE product was also named product of the year by Electronique Magazine and featured in the June 2006 issue of the well-known French electronics publication. Recipients of the 2006 award were chosen based on innovation, use of new technology, customer benefits and market competitiveness.
About Siloti Visibility Enhancement
Novas Siloti VE product transforms verification methodologies by eliminating the overhead associated with dumping data for all the signals in a design. Siloti provides full visibility of internal signals for complex IC and system-on-chip (SoC) by identifying the minimal set of signals for dumping, generating "on-demand" the rest of the signal data, and correlating gate-level results to the register transfer level (RTL) source code. The Siloti product is used during full-chip regression simulation, emulation and first-silicon prototyping to improve the visibility of internal signal behavior with minimal impact on verification performance. By working with DFD techniques, Siloti also makes silicon debug similar to and as easy as RTL simulation debug. The net result is greater verification productivity and predictability with reduced costs and faster time to first silicon and volume production.
