Novas Software Reported as Number One in RTL Design

New Market Trends Report States Novas Has 38% Market Share

SAN JOSE, Calif., November 26, 2001-Novas Software, Inc., the leader in debug systems for complex chip designs, today announced that Gartner, Inc., has reported Novas Software as the leader in RTL design. The Gartner Dataquest report titled, "EDA 2001: It's Good To Be an EDA Vendor" lists Novas as attaining the market lead with a 38% market share in RTL design. This market share growth is attributed to the widespread adoption of their Debussy® Debug System, the industry standard debug system for Verilog, VHDL, and mixed-language designs.

The Gartner Dataquest report is the result of their investigations into the current and future conditions of the EDA market. The RTL design category is defined as "Tools designed to assist engineers in entering a design or analyzing the simulated results of that design; includes use of graphical symbols to represent RTL, VHDL or Verilog.1"

Scott Sandler, president and CEO of Novas commented, "It is significant to be reported as number one in a category of the Gartner Dataquest report. This position is the result of the great acceptance of our Debussy product in the marketplace as the best way to cut the time and cost of debugging." Sandler continued, "It is interesting to note that the other players in the RTL Design category that we lead actually offer solutions complementary to ours, and we cooperate with many of them to the benefit of our mutual customers."

About Novas
Novas Software, Inc. focuses on improving the human understanding process involved in debugging IC and SoC designs. The company's technology and products provide designers with the ability to shorten verification and debug cycles--the most labor-intensive and expensive portions of the design process. With its Debussy®, Verilog and VHDL debug system, designers can easily locate, isolate, and understand the causes of unexpected design behavior in half the time of traditional solutions, thereby maximizing the efficiency of engineering resources, significantly reducing costs and accelerating the process of getting silicon to market. Novas has over 7,000 systems in use at hundreds of customer sites worldwide. For more information visit www.novas.com or send email to info@novas.com.
